Christopher Dewart

Technical Instructor

Christopher Dewart has taught Furniture Making in the Department of Architecture at MIT since 1987 and assisted students in building large and full scale model sections for architecture studios using steel, concrete, wood and glass. He received a BA degree from Marlboro College focusing on the aethetics of furniture design and architecture. His furniture for galleries and commissions include: Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, MA; Person's Gallery, Marlboro, VT; Clark Gallery, Lincoln, MA; Society of Arts and Crafts, Boston, MA; Church of the Advent, Boston, MA; St. Pauls Church, Brookline, MA; and Church of the Good Shepherd, Waban, MA. Dewart continues to work professionally with sculptors and artisans in the Boston area creating works for First Night, Cambridge River Festival, Cambridge Public Schools, and the Cambridge Arts Council with installations at Babson College Chapel, Resolve of Alabama, Birmingham, AL, and Harvard University's Art Museums.
